Northeast Tasmania accommodation, Northeast Tasmania activities and attractions, Northeast Tasmania maps, transportation to and around Northeast Tasmania - the ALL NEW Jasons Northeast Tasmania Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Northeast Tasmania.

Bay of Fires © Tourism Tasmania and Glenn GibsonThe north-east of Tasmania is a region of immense beauty and the place to go for bushwalking and beachside holidays. This is the state’s popular ‘Sun Coast’ – an area of sheltered beaches, rocky coastline, fantastic surf and great fishing. Extensive kelp forests and underwater caves also make this part of the state a popular destination for divers. While the main visitor attractions are along the winding roads of the coast, inland there are old mining towns and mountain wilderness to explore and a rich farming community and well established wineries. The region takes in the beautiful Bay of Fires Coastal Reserve and Mount William National Park and from there a wide sweep south to Ben Lomond National Park, Tasmania’s most popular snow skiing destination.

The largest town in the north-east is St Helens, rich in history and culture and the game fishing capital of Tasmania. Just north of St Helens is the coastal resort of Binalong Bay which borders some of Tasmania’s most beautiful and diverse coastal reserves – Humbug Point Recreation Area, the Bay of Fires Coastal Reserve with its adjacent extensive lagoons, and to the north the native heathlands of The Gardens. The seaside villages of Scamander and Anson’s Bay swell dramatically in summer when holidaymakers come to enjoy the pristine white sand beaches and clear waters. Bridport on Tasmania Accommodation Directorythe north coast is popular with waterskiers. Inland, the farming towns of Scottsdale, Ringarooma and Pyengana, the old mining towns of Fingal, Derby, WeldboroughGladstone and Herrick and the timber hamlet of Branxholm have their own unique personalities and appeal and a variety of attractions for the visitor.
